Disney’s THE LION KING, the world’s #1 musical, is set to make a triumphant return to Melbourne for the first time since 2015, bringing its awe-inspiring spectacle, unforgettable music and groundbreaking artistry back to the Regent Theatre from Thursday 25 March 2027.
More than a decade after the six-time Tony Award-winning production last captivated Melbourne audiences, a new generation of theatregoers will have the opportunity to experience one of the most celebrated stage productions of all time.
Featuring an extraordinary company of performers from Australia, New Zealand and around the world, THE LION KING continues to inspire audiences with its breathtaking storytelling, iconic score and innovative theatrical design. Now embarking on its third Australian tour, the landmark production has been experienced by more than 127 million people worldwide, cementing its place as one of the most beloved musicals in theatre history.
The announcement comes amid extraordinary success for the current Australian tour. Playing to sold-out audiences in Sydney, THE LION KING recently became the fastest-selling show in the history of the Capitol Theatre and recorded the highest-selling musical presale ever at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC).
Melbourne audiences now have the chance to be among the first to secure tickets for the highly anticipated season.
Tickets for the Melbourne season go on sale from 9.00am on Thursday 15 October 2026.
